We’ve developed the following projects and methodologies

Sargassum Removal

This methodology applies to projects that utilize Sargassum and/or other ocean-based macroalgae waste biomass to produce useful products, including bioplastics. The methodology quantifies GHG emissions reductions achieved by avoiding waste algal biomass reaching landfills and displacing more carbon-intensive products and materials.


Composting/Small-Scale Organic Waste Diversion

Carbonomics developed a new methodology for decentralized composting and other waste diversion for when the baseline landfill destination is not known.  This approach is well suited for on-site waste processing and small-scale composters that are widely distributed.


Ship Electrification

Carbonomics developed this methodology for Maersk, which is developing a new technology for using off-shore electricity sources to power ships while they are waiting in harbors: https://stillstrom.com/


Carbon Capture and Utilization in Concrete

Carbonomics also advised and was on the working group for the low-carbon cement protocol under the Climate Action Reserve (CAR).


Avoided Wildfire Emissions

Carbonomics advised on a unique methodology under CAR’s Climate Forward program that calculated the emission reductions associated with forest treatments that reduce the risk of severe wildfires.  The goal is to use carbon finance to help support the proactive treatment of fire-prone areas in California.

AM0023: Leak Reduction in Gas Pipelines — now ICVCM-approved!!

AM0017: Steam efficiency improvements through steam trap replacement and condensate return.

AM0020: Municipal water pumping improvements (new motors, pumps, etc., as well as water loss reduction).

AM0035: Reduction of SF6 emissions from electricity grids through better recycling and leak-detection methods.

AM0037: Flare reduction from oil facilities, which utilize the previously-flared gas as a feedstock for ethylene and other chemicals.

AM0048: Elimination of diesel self-generation in off-grid applications through the introduction of modern gas-fired generation.

AM0052: Optimization of hydropower plants using decision support systems.

AM0065: Elimination of SF6 in magnesium production by using an alternative cover gas.

AM0078: Destruction of SF6 through incineration at LCD-production facilities.

ACM007: Conversion from single-cycle to combined- cycle generation.
